Opening the mailbox that came with your account
Most accounts ship with an Outlook or Hotmail inbox. Reading it is how you get verification codes.
When a listing says mail included, you receive the mailbox address and its password. That inbox matters more than it looks: it is where the platform sends verification codes, and without access to it you cannot complete a login that asks for one.
Signing in
- Go to the Outlook web sign-in page and enter the mailbox address exactly as delivered.
- Enter the mailbox password โ this is usually a DIFFERENT password from the account it belongs to.
- If a "stay signed in" prompt appears, decline it on a shared machine.
If it asks to verify your identity
Some mailboxes ask for a confirmation the first time they are opened from a new location. Signing in through a proxy in the mailbox's own country usually avoids this, for the same reason it helps with accounts: the login looks like it came from where the mailbox lives.
Where the codes actually are
- Check the Junk folder first. Platform verification mail lands there constantly.
- Check Deleted Items โ some mailboxes arrive with filters already set.
- Search for the platform name rather than scrolling.
Open the mailbox as part of your first-hour checks, before you change anything. A mailbox you cannot access is covered by the guarantee, and it is much harder to demonstrate after you have altered the account.
